If you are studying Japanese, I am sure that you have dreamt of living in Japan before. Some people say Japan could be the most unique country. Let’s try to find it out here. Here are 5 reasons why you will find that living in Japan is amazing!

1. Japan is one of the safest countries to live in!

Tokyo has been named the world’s safest city, followed by Osaka which came in third place according to the Safe Cities Index 2019 report by The Economist. One of the lowest global crime rates, access to healthcare, and quality of safe food and water made Tokyo the safest of 60 cities around the world for 3 years straight. For example, even though you lost your mobile or wallet on the street or public transport, you will probably get it back. Have you ever fallen asleep on trains or buses?, well… you can do it without worrying about safety reasons here in Japan.

2. Shops are open 24 hours a day and 7 days a week, everywhere!

There are more than 50,000 convenience stores in Japan, and most of them are open 24/7!. Bento, Onigiri rice balls, snacks and sweets, alcoholic beverages… but it is not only good quality food and drinks, but you can also get daily cosmetic products or magazines whenever you want. Some restaurants or supermarkets in central cities are open 24/7 as well. You will never go hungry in Japan!

3. The amazing Japanese food culture!

You get to enjoy a variety of super tasty food from all over the world. More than 670,000 restaurants in Japan are waiting to entertain your stomach!. Fresh sushi, rich-flavoured ramen, tender and juicy Kobe beef… You will need your lifetime to experience all those amazing restaurants in Japan. By the way, there are 226 restaurants with Michelin stars in Tokyo, more than anywhere else in the world. 😉

4. Experience a fusion of traditional and modern Japanese style!

You can find both breathtaking historical architecture and modern high-tech buildings at the same place in Japan. Most of Tokyo’s amazing heritage was destroyed after the Great Kanto Earthquake in 1923 and World War Ⅱ in 1945. However, they have been rebuilt and still stand stronger than ever. Our country is full of innovative ideas, such as bullet trains or smart toilets, yet we value tradition and our long history.

5. Japanese people love celebrations!

There are heaps of different kinds of festivals in Japan. Countless local festivals “Matsuri” are held annually by the shrines or temples to celebrate their historical event and honour the gods. Especially in summer, you get to see many Matsuri with extraordinary parades of “Mikoshi” portable shrine, taiko drummers and traditional dancers. And furthermore, “Hanabi” fireworks are a huge part of the celebrations. Japanese artistic fireworks are well known worldwide because of those impressive colours and dynamic sound. Combination of modern pop culture and long-standing tradition in Japan is something you cannot find in any other country. Even just for travel, we highly recommend you to visit this beautiful country where you will be able to experience the uniqueness of the ancient and modern world at the same place.
